Messages In iCloud is Currently Disabled Error?
This issue has been reported by Vicki (iOS 16.2):
“I get a message at the bottom of my main message screen: ‘IMessages in icloud is disabled repair account’. I’m asked to sign in to my account over and over again!”
We couldn’t replicate this problem, but have found similar complaints for iOS 16 and even some that date all the way back to iOS 15 and even 14:

How To Fix Messages In iCloud is Currently Disabled iOS 16 Error
Here are some common troubleshooting options:
1. Cycle iMessage Setting
First, try to turn off iMessage and re-activate the option on your iPhone:
- 1. Go for Settings -> Messages -> iMessage turn Off.
- 2. Reboot iPhone.
- 3. Return to Settings -> Messages and turn iMessages back ON. Does this help?
2. Sign Out and Sign Back Into iCloud
If you’re still asked to Repair Account after cycling the iMessage feature, try to sign out of your Apple ID and sign back it to see if it helps:
- 1. Open Settings -> Apple ID and scroll for Sign Out.
- 2. Reboot iPhone.
- 3. Return to Settings -> Apple ID and sign back in.
3. Turn On Two-Factor Authentication
You might be seeing the Messages in iCloud is currently disabled error because you’re not using 2FA on your iCloud account. Please enable it in:
- Settings -> Apple ID -> Password & Security.
- Turn On Two-Factor Authentication.
