Apple AirTag firmware update 1.0.291 is now available! It comes with build number 1A291a, two months after the release of 1.0.276 (1A287b) and almost three months since the rollout of 1.0.276 (1A276D). The first ever AirTag firmware update added anti-stalking improvements.

Update: Apple has revised firmware 1.0.291 from build number 1A291a to 1A291c. No changes have been spotted though.

This third ever firmware update released by Apple for its premium Bluetooth trackers comes with under-the-hood enhancements!

Unfortunately, the Cupertino-based tech giant doesn’t provide release notes for AirTag firmware updates. We’re not sure what changes are included in this new release, but we will update this content for sure as long as new info becomes available.

Fact: There’s no sign of the much awaited Family Sharing integration.

How To Check AirTag Firmware Version

You can check if your AirTags have updated to version 1.0.291 in the Find My app:

  • Open Find My.
  • Tap on Items and select your AirTag.
  • Tap the battery icon, available at the top of the AirTag card. Does it show 1.0.291?

How To Force AirTag Firmware Update

If your Bluetooth tracker still reads 1.0.276 you can make the update happen by ensuring the appropriate conditions:
AirTag firmware updates occur over-the-air when the item is nearby the connected iPhone. Make sure that the two stay in close range over night and that the iOS device is connected to the Internet, with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled!
