We’re talking about all terminals from this model that have been manufactured between October 2018 and August 2019. A failing component can cause the device not to power anymore and thus become useless. A free repair program has been announced. All that you have to do is check if your iPhone was manufactured in the above mentioned time period.

If your iPhone qualifies for the free repair program you have to bring it to a Service Provider that is authorized by Apple, schedule an appointment at an Apple Retail Store or contact Apple Support to ship your device to an Apple Retail Center. Before, you choose one of the above options be aware that your iPhone 6s and 6s Plus is covered by this free service program for two years since its retail sale. This means that the first devices plagued by this issue will qualify for a free fix until October 2020.

The device’s serial number can be used to identify when the iPhone was manufactured. All that you have to do is to find it and run it through an online checker.

1. Open the Settings app and browse for General -> About. Serial Number is display in the first section of the screen.
2. If your device isn’t powering anymore you can get its Serial Number from the backside of the packaging unit.
3. The serial number should be printed on the original receipt or invoice.
4. The serial number is also available in the iTunes Preferences options. Check the Devices tab.
