How To Hide Or Disable App Library In iOS 14
Last updated on August 7th, 2022 at 09:32 am
Posted in TILs by Patricia on October 9, 2020The App Library is a new iOS 14 feature that provides an one-page layout of all the apps available on your iPhone. It automatically organizes apps in categories. It also comes with a Search function that allows you to find the software that you’re looking for, if you can’t quickly glance it in the available bundles.
The App Library helps to declutter the iPhone Home Screen, because you can display apps only in the Library and even hide Home Screen pages. However, if you’re a conservative iPhone user you might not like The new App Library and are looking for a way to hide it.
Unfortunately, you can’t disable App Library! The feature is enabled by default as soon as you update to iOS 14. However, you don’t need to use it if you don’t want to. Simply hide it behind your Home Screen pages and you won’t even know it’s there!
How To Hide App Library
The only way to trigger the App Library to display is if you swipe to the end of the Home Screen pagination. As long as you have enough pages available, you won’t even know that the App Library exists.
Add widgets to the Home Screen, keep your apps organized in folders the way you want it and you’ll make the App Library obsolete.
(Update: August 7, 2022)
How To Edit App Library
Believe it or not, we’re only a few weeks away from the public release of iOS 16 and there’s still no new App Library customization option.
Nevertheless, there’s a tweak that you can apply to edit the apps that are suggested in the App Library folders. Here are all the details!
App Store Downloads Not On Home Screen
Are new apps that you download from the App Store not showing up on the Home Screen and you have to use the App Library to access them? Here is how to fix this:
- 1. Open Settings on your iPhone.
- 2. Tap on Home Screen.
- 3. Select Add to Home Screen for the newly downloaded apps.
Fact: This way app icons will become available on the Home Screen, as prior to the iOS 14 update.
How To Add Home Screen Pages
As usual, a new Home Screen page is created automatically when there’s not enough place to host a new widget or app icon. However, you can check and make sure that all of your pages are displayed by following these steps:
- 1. Long-press on the Home Screen to enter Edit Mode.
- 2. Tap on the pagination dots, available at the bottom of the screen.
- 3. Select the Home Screen pages that you want to display.
- 4. Tap Done when ready.
How To Delete Apps In iOS 14
The new App Library is also changing the way you delete apps from your iPhone:
- 1. Long-press the app icon on the Home Screen.
- 2. Use the Remove App option, that’s now available instead of the former Delete App.
- 3. An additional pop-up asks if you want to: Delete App, Move to App Library or Cancel.
Tip: Select the first option to erase the app from your iPhone. The second one will only delete the app icon from the Home Screen, but the app will remain installed on your device.

Translated from Danish: “I hate this new move that Apple has pulled down over our heads.
The app library is totally illogical and should be removed as soon as possible. Just an example –
App from Den blå Planet is together with the important App from Borger.dk put together under what the “system” calls Education and there are many such examples. Let this silly App library become a voluntary option for the few who are not even able to organize their apps.”
English next time,please! ;)
I agree remove or like you said give as a option.
Thank for letting apple know about this silly addition to they have add to my well organised phone.
You’re welcome. Curious to see if they’ll make a move in this direction in iOS 15.
I agree. Let us turn it off. It’s annoying.
Me too. Turn it off. No one I have talked want this illogical page. It’s adding more stress to the illogical use of our phones. We by these phones therefore they belong to us, so we should have control. Not Apple!!!
I hate it and want it GONE!!!
Thanks for your opinion. It seems here to stay though.
Me too! I hate it and I can’t even remove it from the bottom of the Home Screen. I already have a system to organize my Apps that works for me and is much more attractive. I hate it when Apple forces something like this on us. Make it an option. And make it removable. So annoying!
I want it gone as well. Very annoying and confusing.
Applibrary – removed as soon as possible.
New option: have the possibility to have home screen and separately “job screen” – with the oprion that when you are on holiday you can “delete” job screen :) not really delete, but some function to make this screen invisible.
Or new option: hide apps from screen (not just the option to put them in special maps).
This can be done easily with the option that allows you to hide Home Screens. Just set one screen for Home and one for Job. Whenever you want to switch between them enter the Home Screen edit mode, by long-pressing on an empty spot on the screen. Tap the pagination-dots available at the bottom of the screen and select or unselect the Home Screen that you want to display.
There seems to be no reason for this feature other than to irritate users.
I honestly use it all the time. Is it just me? I have a single Home Screen page with my most important apps and widgets. This is how I am a single swipe away from the App Library, with quick access to any app. No need to swipe between pages or search within multiple layers of folder.
P.S.: I agree that this doesn’t fit everyone, but I find it handy. Yes, making the App Library optional would be ideal for those that don’t like it, but the fact that you can ignore it, offers a great workaround.
What are they going to force on us to do next? It’s an option to have a iPhone…every thing that we choose to do on the iPhone should be an option…we pay for it!
It’s not rocket science. I guess they just assumed we would all like it! Well they assumed wrong. Sometimes you just have to get to the point especially with a company like Apple..
Thanks for commenting. Your point of view does make sense.
I agree remove or make an option I do t need all these double tripod apps icons on my screen just plain stupid..
I absolutely HATE the App Library.
It may work for some people, but not for me.
I want the option to get rid of it.
It takes much longer to find an app. I knew which page they were on before, so it was a simple matter to swap to it.
Now, I can barely see some of the apps they are so small.
Why aren’t you using the app library search? It’s interactive. Just type the first letter from the name and the list will filter apps out. It’s faster, than looking deep into folders.
Because it’s a wretched app and not useful and not wanted. Ug! Take it off!
Because I’m elderly and can’t remember all the names but I can remember where I put certain apps and which folder I put them in. It has worked for me for 40 years.
That makes sense Larry. However, the folders should still be there on your Home Screen setup. It’s just the App Library that’s been added at the end of the Home Screen pages.
You can enter Home Screen edit mode and tap on the pagination dots to unveil all your Home Screens. Make sure that they’re all selected.
I agree i hate everything about it. We should be given the option whether we want ANY NEW CHANGES. I always hate to hear there’s an up date. I’m a70 year women who knows next to nothing about new technology and have no desire to go back to school. IF IT’S NOT BROKE, DON’T FIX IT is my motto. Why should we be subjected to something we don’t want, have paid a large sum of money for when there are other tablets and phones out there. Also what is the point of shrinking the icon size. Many people have poor eye site not just we older ones. Get rid of this update!
Thanks for the feedback Bonnie. Appreciate your point of view.
Regarding icon size, you can enlarge them in Settings -> Display & Brightness -> View (under Display Zoom) -> Zoomed
I hate this new addiction. It’s screwed up my screens. I tried deleting it. But I see you can’t. Otherwise I want to hide it somewhere.
Enter Home Screen edit mode and tap on the pagination dots available at the bottom of the screen. Make sure that all your Home Screens are displayed. The App Library is available at the end of the Home Screen. Try to ignore it if you don’t like it.
I don’t understand the point of this Library App. What is the point to hide the pages screen , if just in a second you get to the library , and you can see all the apps you tried to hide before in one page! It doesn’t make sense. I meant to hide a social media app from my parents through the others app , and now showing it straight away in the social media folder in the Library App .
I think Apple should give us the choice how to organise our screen and not just force to have them all together, with a specifically name on. I hope it’s gonna change …
Thanks for sharing this privacy shortcoming. The App Library is here to stay, as Apple has expanded it to the iPad in iOS 15. However, some additional settings are necessarily, I do agree with is and your observation does make a lot of sense.
Feel sorry “Patricia “that you don’t understand why people can’t just ignore this new ‘feature’. Well it’s like cockroaches – you know they’re there and even if you don’t want them, they keep popping up! Please do look at all the negative comments, and the many consumers’ views about the App Library – it’s very clear! No one likes being ‘force feed’ especially those people who can afford an iPhone and previously liked the ease of use & choice of deciding what they wanted to see. This ‘up-grade’ (sic) seems like a nasty, dirty little bit of marketing trickery – more in the spirit of Goggle, than Apple! Is Apple’s management intent on pushing existing customers to Android products? It looks like it! Remember, one of the problems of totalitarian regimes is that people eventually vote with their feet, where they have a choice.
Thanks for the feedback Bill. Yes, I’ve seen all the comments and it makes me thing that something might be wrong with me.:)
I’m not using the App Library too much, but in the same time don’t consider that it stands in my way either.
Nevertheless, having it as an optional feature would be fair for everyone.
“It’s like cockroaches” nice one. I will never buy a new apple product again.
It’s stupid and it sucks. On android you can turn this similar function off. Another way, that Apple, thinking they are doing something creative are going back in time.
I agree a total useless extra app for a few individuals that cannot organise their life .
Apple has put on us what they think we need not what we want
I don’t like the App Library either. I can organize my own apps
Thanks for sharing your opinion and for joining the club. ;)
Totally agree. There’s a few apple updates I don’t like and not just on my ph. I find my mAc now looks more like Windows with the crappy wallpaper options and flat colour looks.
With the App Library I can not delete apps I want to get rid of. They are just removed from Home Screen. How can I delete apps with out them going to the library?
You can delete any app, excepting the built-in ones that are mandatory like Settings, Camera etc. All that you have to do is long-press the app’s icon and select Remove app. Instead of ‘Remove from Home Screen’, use ‘Delete App’. If the second option isn’t available it means that the app is native and mandatory for the system to run.
That’s not true. You can’t delete every app. I have several non-apple non-mandatory apps that only give the “Remove from Home Screen option” and do not provide any “Delete from phone” option. The “Remove” option only removes those apps from the home screen.
James, are you using Screen Time on your iPhone?
Go for Settings -> Screen Time -> Content & Privacy Restrictions -> iTunes & App Store Purchases -> Deleting Apps -> Allow.
This could be one explanation why you aren’t able to get the ‘Delete App’ option on Home Screen!
I hate the App Library feature. I think it’s oppressive to make someone organize apps the way you think they should be organized. The extra screen is annoying as hell.
Add me to the pro-choice league of app organizers.
Thanks for reporting. Added. However, we have some bad news. Apparently Apple is further implementing the App Library to the iPad in iPadOS 15, so there doesn’t seem to be a chance of it going away soon.
Oh ffs 🤦♀️ Apple must have some real twits now making their changes and decisions. It use to be a classic clean program but now it’s getting cluttered with thongs that are not useful or needed.
Get your point. In the past though users have been complaining about it being to simple and lacking in features. The App Library has been designed to declutter the Home Screen and make room for widgets. However, there are many users that don’t like it indeed.
But it should be our option! Forcing it on us is just plain wrong.
Makes sense.
This is just a replay of apps. Hate it.
The logic behind it, is that you have all the apps on a single screen, with the one you use the most suggested at the top and the others arranged in categories or available for search. The goal is to clear up the Home Screen for widgets. I was reticent at first too, but the App Library grew on me over time and now I find it very practical.
Who are you, Patricia?
iPhoneTricks.org staff. ;)
Whatever the logic is – it’s not working for me and I find it annoying to have it forced on us all. It should be a choice. Apple – you blew it.
Please let me delete the App Library. It makes me hate my iPhone. I wish you would let me hide it or something. I like scrolling through screens, but I hate the fact that the App Library pops up. Please, please let me disable it or hide it so I can scroll through my screens without the fear of running into the App Library again.
To be honest, I do not understand why you’re so disturbed by it. It’s at the end of the scrollable area. You can easily ignore it and use your iPhone the old way.
I get it, I scroll through quickly to get to the last page. I use that “wall” at the last page to know when I get there. Its an old habit I picked up from the first I phone that didn’t have the newsfeed mess on the far left. Still to this day I hate that the newsfeed page is on there. Its redundant, too, you just passed all the apps on the phone to get to a list of all the apps on the phone. Why? And why can we not choose to hide it? Its not a necessary function of the phone, its not required to run apps. A simple option to hide or display the library is an incredibly simple thing. Why apple does this I will never understand. I’ll be going to samsung after this insurance replacement breaks or is throttled by apple.
Kyle thanks for sharing your point of view. Habits can be broken. Indeed an option to hide the App Library, would be welcomed especially conservative users. I just checked the iOS 15 Settings panel and there is no new setting available in Home Screen section. We are in the early beta stages though, so fingers crossed.
P.S.: Apple has made Home Screen widgets available for iPad too in iPadOS 15 and along comes the App Library. No option for hiding it on iPad either.
I really don’t need a new habit of having to mind-read App staff. I know what I want to find quickly. App staff do not.
Thanks for your feedback.
Android doesn’t do this. I was an Apple guy for along time and switched to android. Love the freedom. But got a new job and they gave me Apple for a work phone. I can’t believe how much it made me love my Samsung even more. Samsung made this similar sort of feature optional a long, long time ago.
Thanks for the feedback Willie. There will always be pros and cons on both sides.
I get it too. I hate the App Library, it’s such a stupid addition Apple is starting to make things feel like an android which I can’t stand
But android lets you turn this feature off!! So no, it’s not like an android.
Do NOT like nor want App Library.
This redundancy is not necessary and wastes space.
Thanks for sharing your opinion.
Wastes TIME! It’s like a whole menu on phone calls. 😟 Guessing which option is hiding the information is an unnecessary obstruction for phone apps.
Apple gets worse and worse but at least its not samsung…. yet. my samsung phone randomly changes where apps are or they disappear completely and I have to find them and return them to the home screen. On the other hand, Samsung doesn’t just take over everything like Apple. My ‘burner’ phone is better than either.
Thanks for sharing your feedback. iOS is highly security and privacy-oriented. This are the main reasons why Apple’s OS seems to lack in features. They seem to control everything, but it’s mostly to keep things safe and clean. Just remember how rigid iOS was in its early days. More and more customization options are made available, while maintaining security and increasing privacy. That’s why I prefer iOS over Android.
I’m absolutely despising the app library! My homepage is organized into its own folders the way I want them. I don’t want unused apps accessed from an app library by my children or anyone else for that matter. I think this feature needs to be able to have a disable function or completely hide the Apple library not a fan not my thing I hate it. As a small business owner I do 50% of my business through my phone everyone knows that there is an app library I don’t need these apps to be available by continuing to swipe.
Thanks for sharing your feedback. It does make sense. Unfortunately, until now iOS 15 doesn’t bring any changes to the App Library.
How can I remove the App Library? It’s horrendous!
Unfortunately, at the moment you’re not able to hide it. You can just ignore it if it’s not for you.
App Library is a nuisance. It wastes time. User has to spend seconds guessing what category folder the Library app decided was place to put an app😳. In those seconds I cd’ve flicked thro all my apps and opened the one I want.. Even faster if I have chosen locations for my app icons. Please dump Library!
You can continue placing your apps on the Home Screen as before and leaved the App Library untouched at the end of the Home Screen pagination. Also, within the library you can easily search for an app instead of trying to do the guess work. What I am doing is searching for an app directly from the Spotlight on the Home Screen. No need to even open the library.
There are certain apps I don’t want people who may pick up my phone to know I use and would hide them on a second page This stupid (App Library)feature has taken this liberty away , by highlighting in glorious technicolour all of those I’d chose to hide . WHY!!!!!!! please make it optional .
Thanks for this opinion. It makes sense.
I am a games addict , and on this enforced (App Library) It shows to my spouse in a single swipe just how many games I play . Prior to this forced addition that you included by upgrading to iOS 14 I could hide my games on pages behind other apps . WHY do this ??????, and WHY NO CHOICE ??? the only reason I can see is it’s to help Apple transport my information quicker to move on to your prospective clients to enable them to target me with cookies and other advertising paraphernalia!!!! Which begs the question. Who are your clients US or THEM !!!???????
Thanks for your feedback. Yes, the privacy issue has been raised by a series of other readers too. It does make sense and I can think of two potential solutions:
1. Allow users to hide apps individually from the App Library. This could be added as an option in Settings-> [app name].
2. Make App Library optional.
Do you have a better proposal?
Thank you in advance Patricia,
If you know which you might not, will there be a chance in the future where you edit the way your library is set up how you would like it? Or maybe even have a function where you can have it optional for it to be hidden or even disabled. Thanks a ton.
Also to everyone else stop being jerks Patricia and everyone else on this website is just trying to be nice and helpful.
Thanks for commenting Aarin.
We’re currently beta testing iOS 15 and unfortunately there aren’t any new Settings available for the Home Screen App Library.
It would be ideal if Apple starts to allow users to hide or unhide specific apps in the App Library. I’ve submitted feedback using the Feedback assistant regarding this privacy-related aspect and quoted the comment section of this article in favor of the request. Fingers crossed!
I can’t imagine that they will allow users to hide the App Library completely anytime soon, though. But you can never know and we still have 2 months of beta testing left.
Ridiculous. People can organize their own files. I am happy to have picked up a delightful new shortcut phrase in this discussion “ffs” ! I was able to circumvent having the “library” show up as my last page simply by leaving one app on my screensaver.
:) Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this.
Yes, don’t tell me how to organise my phone. Please remove it in the next update. If possible, by tomorrow 8am I want it gone.
Please make the apps library optional. It is a pain.
Good reason to switch from an iPhone! Worst idea in years!!
It’s coming to the iPad too alongside iPadOS 15…
I fricken hate the App Library, always landing on it by mistake and then finding it difficult to get out of. I wonder how much extra juice it’s using too and notice I have to re-charge more often. Please get rid of it.
Yes, making it optional would be fair enough.
Please get rid of the App Library! I do not need someone to arrange apps for me! Also the new update sucks! Many problems after updating. I HATE APPLE. But my family wants us all to have an apple so we can FaceTime. Which I think is stupid also.
Thanks for your comment Mike. Which new update sucks? iOS 14.7.1? Can you provide some reasons (issues?). We might be able to help.
I agree with everyone. The app library is a nuisance and aggravation. I want it gone!
Please git rid of App Library as it stores apps I have removed
It is a pain
Davey, when you remove app you have the option to ‘Delete App’ or ‘Remove from Home Screen’. If you choose the first the app will be removed from both Home Screen and device (including App Library). If you go for the 2nd the app will be only removed from the Home Screen and will remain installed on your iPhone and accessible from the App Library. Hope it helps.
The app library is a pain. I already organise my apps as I want them, not as Apple thinks I might want them. Please make it optional.
Thanks for your feedback.
HATE apps library. Why can’t you leave we’ll enough alone!?! Keep it simple
I agree. The library app needs to be optional. I already organize my apps in folders of my choosing. We should be able to completely disable it.
Also, make the widget page optional. I never liked widgets widgets when Microsoft had them. I use to use that page to get an uncluttered view of my background picture which is my deceased cat. Now when I go there, I can’t see the pic.
Users want CHOICE more than anything else. We own our phones, tablets and computers and want to customize them to our liking. Imposing new “features” on us is frustrating. Make them optional.
Neither Apple nor Microsoft has seemed to learn this in how many decades? Make your fancy new features the default, but let the users disable them if they so choose.
Thanks for sharing your opinion.
Can we get rid of this App Library this is ridiculous
Nope, unfortunately, there is now way at the moment.
I HATE it!!!! I had everything arranged perfectly and turned on my phone and the damn App Library had taken over. PLEASE MAKE IT OPTIONAL. Between Apple forcing this on us and chronic cable provider problems, I’d like to throw my phone in the ocean!!!
You’ve only recently updated to iOS 14? or how did the App Library show up turned on your device?
I don’t want/need the App Library
Thans for sharing your opinion.
Please allow users to disable the App. Library. It ‘s not needed and it does a terrible job of sorting.
We’ll have to wait for iOS 16, I guess.
App Library is annoying both on iPad and iPhone . A complete miss on user friendly approach to phone Can’t over emphasize how much I hate it. Hiding widgets and features has become a standard for me with every iOS upgrade. The suggestion to be able to hide App Library or at least get it off the home screens makes the most sense…or switching to a more friendly user interface .
Thanks for your feedback. Only iOS 16 could bring such changes and that’s almost 1 year away. We have to get used with this interface for now.
Library is a mess. Delete this please. Definitely NOT needed
Thanks for the feedback Bernie. You might be dealing with the App Library bug described here: https://www.iphonetricks.org/how-to-fix-app-library-bug-in-ios-14/
I’m sorry, but this idiotic App Library SUCKS. I normally keep the auto update off, but guess it was switched on and IOS 14 .x got installed without any notice. Went to use my phone and all my carefully arranged app folders were DESTROYED! I found most of my Apps were “arranged” (per Apples’ desires, not mine) by this App Library. I HATE IT! I am seriously considering quitting Apple phones and going Android over this and other stupid stuff Apple is doing!
Sorry to hear this Julian. However, you should know that you can still organize your apps in folders and ignore the App Library. Actually, you can enter the Home Screen edit mode and tap on the pagination-dots available at the bottom of the screen. Your old folders might be available in that section.
If they Made the redundant App Library optional, most users would turn it off. Apple would realize its not needed and they would fire the department that came up with the idea. If I can teach my 90 year old mother to navigate her iPhone and make folders. any user can do it.
After a new OS arrives and Knows better than me what I like . I take all the apple bloatware and hide them together in a folder to be ignored.
which update decided all new downloads have to go to the Library and not the home screen
Thanks for the feedback. I fully understand users that can’t accommodate with the app library. What I don’t understand is why you can’t just ignore it. You can set up all your old Home Screens. The App Library is at the end of the list, very easy to ignore if you don’t like it.
Also if you go in Settings -> Home Screen -> Add to Home Screen you will get the new app downloads also available on the Home Screen, not only in the App Library.
I work with students who use iPads for educational purposes. The App Library gives them access to all the apps we try to restrict. This is a very bad move on Apple’s part.
We really need to be able to disable the library feature.
Thanks for the feedback Toni. Wasn’t aware of this. That’s unfortunate indeed.
P.S.: Have you tried restricting the apps with Screen Time?
It’s still there after all his time. When will it go away? I am looking at Androids now. Apple has become big brother. I had to pay extra to get extra space but apple continues to fill it up with apps I didn’t ask for, and rarrange my desktop behind my back. Widget page just as bad as library too.
Thanks for the feedback Ralf. I can agree with lots of anti-App Library arguments but this one doesn’t stand. Apple doesn’t fill anything with apps. The apps are there if you install them. If you don’t they’re not in the App Library. The space that’s used by the App Library is similar to the one used on the Home Screen and that’s insignificant. The icons that you see there are only shortcuts to the apps. Apps aren’t duplicated.
Widgets have also lots of room for improvement indeed. But those you can remove whenever you want if you don’t find them useful.
The last straw. I am dumping apple. I’m sick and tired of apple deciding how I should organize MY PHONE!
Sorry to hear this Bob. Apple isn’t deciding how to organize your iPhone, but providing an auto option that you can choose to use or ignore and continue to access your apps from Home Screen folders.
GET rid of the app library. My Mom has dementia but she’s functional enough to play games on her iPad. It was easy for her to find her games when they were all on the home screen and one click away. Now you are making a woman with dementia have to look in the app library, which has organized her games in multiple folders, click on a folder then click on her game. Not only that, but now her games have moved from where she knew where to click and find them. Shame on you for making my Moms life harder.
Thanks for the feedback Christina. You can still bring the games back on the Home Screen and make them easy accessible for your mum. Just drag them from the App Library and place them on the Home Screen in the desired location. Let us know if you manage.
I DO NOT want the App Library and do not understand why this would even be created. My apps are not organized. I am thinking of dumping my phone now. The library took all of my apps that were organized by subject and put the apps in random places (very bad for my childrens school and activity apps). This is making my phone impossible to use. How dare someone change my app layout and make it impossible and time consuming to try to arrange back. When I am at work I don’t have time to search through this library. Why have a phone for easy access at this point. Remove it now. It has set me up to miss important school and activity messages. How is this an improvement? It is making life and using my phone less convenient.
Thanks for the feedback Wendy. Have your folders been erased? The App Library is added at the end of the Home Screen. You can maintain your folders on your Home Screens and ignore the App Library. Isn’t that an option?
I want those who created this to know that it could have been added as a feature that we could choose to use. Taking my organized apps and rearranging them is rude. It is as if someone came into my house and rearranged my color coded monthly planner. This company needs to listen to the consumer.
Has your old arrangement been deleted? You sure that you’ve not hidden Home Screen pages? Long-press on the pagination dots to unveil all they available Home Screen pages.
This is the very Last Apple I will ever buy! I am livid over this ridiculous App Library! Get it off my dang screen! I freakin hate the thing! My privacy is now up for grabs ! Grrrrr!
Thanks for sharing your feedback Sheila.
get rid of the app library. It is just one more thing to get rid of
Thanks for your opinion.
Please remove the APP Library Feature … or at the very least give your customers the option of turning this feature off (like most other features).
Thanks for the feedback Mark.
App Library STINKS. I’m 81 and had my apps as I wanted them. Now I have to search through the library to find what I need or want to use. It needs to be deleted because if is made optional it will be a pain to keep it from messing up what has taken much time to make the arrangement like I wanted it.
Thanks for the feedback Kim. Some of your requests make sense. We will submit more feedback regarding this and ask Apple to consider making it optional.
Please please please please please make the App Library optional. It is pointless and more than a little patronising to tell us to just ignore it.
Thanks for the feedback Wayne. The more voices, the more changes of it becoming optional!
I hate the App Library, waste of a page, would like to make it disappear.
The App Library is actually the section that allows you to hide multiple Home Screen pages because you will always be able to find hidden app icons in the library.
App Library is for incompetent iPhone users. I should be an option and not a mandatory condition. The App Library for those incapable of making folders to group their Apps. I wonder how much development time and $ Apple spent to help a bunch of complaining unorganized users.
APPLE, stop this the majority of iPhone owners do not like this feature.
Also all the dumb LINKS when you use search in Messages. I personally hate this, but maybe one day it will too be an option to delete.
It is getting to the point that Samsung or Android might be a better option.
App Library has been introduce alongside widgets, to allow users to clear their Home Screen from app icons and make room for widgets. I think that this was Apple’s main idea behind the move. App Library should prove itself more useful when widgets get more functionality.
Please make the app library optional. For someone like me who is sensitive to clutter it causes anxiety. My apps were already organized how I wanted them, now there are multiple copies – it’s a terrible paradigm. It is also poorly designed and actually not helpful to even use. I was hoping this would become optional with iOS 15.
iOS 16 beta is a couple of weeks away. Perhaps it will be the one that makes App Library optional.
I despise the App Library. When I delete an app I want it gone. I don’t want it stored in the app library. Terrible idea in my opinion. Didn’t ask for it didn’t want it. Please make it go away.
You can delete an app for good. When you delete it just select Remove App -> Delete App and this will delete the app from your device, App Library included.
I’m to the point I’m ready to do away with iPhones all together due the App Library it’s terrible and pointless and guess what you can also search for apps on the search bar at the top of every screen with a lil flick so no we don’t need the App Library it has ruined my passion for apple products! Samsung here I come
I can agree that many users might not like the App Library, but claiming that the library is a reason to switch to Samsung is highly exaggerated. You can easily ignore the Library if you don’t like to use it. You can keep your apps organized the old way, and forget the App Library, as it’s the last page on your Home Screen.
I HATE the App Library. Did’t ask for it, NEVER use it. Totally not useful!!!! The way things are grouped is ILLOGICAL—even if it displayed some logic, it wouldn’t nec. be the logic an individual user would. WE ARE ALL DIFFERENT APPLE. STOP TRYING TO THINK FOR US.
Who are the brainiacs at Apple who keep coming up with things we haven’t asked for and don’t need?
Why don’t you just ignore it and have your apps organized the old way? Enable your old Home Screens from the pagination dots available at the bottom of the screen and you can use your iPhone without even touching the Library.
Forcing customers to have the App Library is a very bad customer service bordering on bullying
Who do you think you are Apple??? Have you forgotten that without us customers buying your products you may just become obsolete or you may even like to join (censored) [*edited by admin – no political debates please].
The App Library is Apple’s concept for freeing up Home Screen space for widgets. I am sure that widgets will get more functionality as the iOS continues to develop. If you don’t like it, you can always use the old Home Screen layout and just ignore the library which is always the last page on your Home Screen…. and of course if you can’t get over it you can always switch for Android or any other operating system.
