You can now share ProRAW photos captured on iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max in Instagram! All that you have to to is update your device to the latest Instagram version for iOS and upload a ProRAW photo similar to any other image from the Photos app.

Instagram doesn’t allow users to edit photos in the .DNG Apple ProRAW format, yet. However, if you take a ProRAW photo and edit it with the help of a third-party app or software, you can share the improved image without converting it to the JPG format that’s used by the social media platform.

Apple ProRAW photos are 25 MB large! However, Instagram will severely compress them and transform them into JPG files, that are less than 1 MB in size. The quality of the image will obviously decrease but this won’t be noticeable on the smartphone display format.

Fact: As most new Instagram features, the Apple ProRAW support is rolling out gradually and will need a bit of time until it’s available worldwide.
