In iOS 12 all stock apps have been more or less improved. Photos makes no exceptions. The performance enhancements as well as feature extensions are making the application more appealing than ever. A new For You tab has been added which hosts an automated selection of Memories, photos you snapped in the current days, in past years. A Facebook-like feature that reminds you what you’ve done in the same day a few years ago. The same For You tab comes with photo-edit suggestions for your best frames.

Sharing Suggestions are also a novelty for the iOS 12 Photos app. In fact, “suggestions” is quite a strong keyword when it comes to the 12th iOS generation. Siri Suggestions along with the Shortcuts app are one of the biggest and most appreciated additions of this release. In Photos “Sharing Suggestions” is also found in the “For You” tab. They represent collections of photos that involve the same friends or family members which can be easily shared. The feature recognizes the person in the image and hints you to share it with that specific contact.
Tip: If you choose to share the person in question will receive a “Share Back” suggestion so that you can also receive his set of photos from the same event!

The Search section has also been greatly improved. Apple has added over 4 million event references for sports, concerts and other similar stuff. You can now search photos by event, business names and in general about more detailed things. Search suggestions are also available. The moment you open the Search screen you are prompted with suggestions which include People, Places, Events, Categories and Groups. These are updated in real-time as you start typing a keyword.

The Albums section has also be reorganized. You can find the content ordered by Media Types for better browsing. You can choose from: Photos, Videos, Selfies, Live Photos, Portrait Mode, Panorama, Time-lapse, Slo-mo bursts, Screenshots and Animated.
Fact: The Photos app comes also with a new sharing option which via an iCloud link. When you tap the Share Extensions button you will notice a new “Copy iCloud Link” option.
