Posted in News, Bug Fixes by Patricia on October 30, 2020Apple has rushed the iOS 14.2 Golden Master release to fix the ‘New iOS Update Available’ bug that flared up less than 24 hours ago and ruined the experience of most iPhone and iPad users that were actively testing the upcoming major public release.
The ‘Please update from the iOS 14 Beta’ prompt was triggered repeatedly after every iPhone unlock and visit to the Notifications Center. The user had to tap Close to dismiss the notification, wasting precious time. Temporary fixes involved compromises like setting back the date of an affected device, or downgrading to iOS 14.1 at the cost of losing recent data.
However, this latest iOS 14.2 ‘Release Candidate’ Beta Update is here to fix it. The Golden Master version is the closest iteration to the iOS 14.2 public release that’s now closer than ever.
Important: To update from iOS 14.2 Beta 4 to the iOS 14.2 Golden Master version you need the iOS 14 Beta Profile installed on your device. Many users have deleted the configuration profile in a desperate attempt to fix the ‘New iOS Update Available’ bug.
How To Update To iOS 14.2 Golden Master
- 1. Open Settings on your iOS or iPadOS device.
- 2. Tap on General.
- 3. Go for Software Update.
- 4. Tap on Download and Install, provide Passcode, agree with Apple’s Terms and be patient until the new update is downloaded, prepared for update, verified and installed on your device!
Tip: If the iOS 14.2 software update isn’t found it means that the iOS 14 Beta Profile isn’t installed on your device. You can install it by following the guide provided here (Steps 1 – 8).
