iOS 15.7.1 Update: Security Patches & iOS 16 Downgrade

iOS 15.7.1 RC update
Apple plans to release iOS 15.7.1 build number 19H115 alongside iOS 16.1 on Monday, October 24. This is confirmed by the Release Candidate verison that’s available for download for Developers and Public Beta testers.
iOS 15.7.1 Update
This version will show up only for iPhones that are iOS 15 compatible and are running iOS 15.7 or earlier.
It will be available over-the-air in Settings -> General -> Software Update.
Tip: If you have a device running the iOS 15 Beta Profile you’re able to download the RC version right now!
Fact: If you already updated to iOS 16.0.3 you will see iOS 16.1 in the Software Update section. To install this iOS 15 version you have to downgrade from iOS 16 first!

You will be also able to install this update via Finder (Mac) or iTunes (Windows), after downloading the .ipsw file specific for your iPhone model from the list available below:

iOS 15.7.1 Features
Don’t expect any visible changes in this version. The release notes mention:
“This update provides important security updates and is recommended for all users.”
Most likely, this release will include security updates implemented in iOS 16.1 and made available for users that plan to stick with iOS 15 for the time being.

iOS 15.7.1 Problems
Issues reported for this update are listed below along with available workarounds:
- 1. Face ID not working for a lot of users after this update. Reported by Cristi, Unknown, Mdawg and many others.
Fix: The only available workaround at the moment is to downgrade to iOS 15.7 or upgrade to the most recent iOS 16 version. More details here. - 2. To be updated!

Immediately after updating this morning my Face ID stopped working. I reset it and now can’t get it set back up. It keeps telling me to raise my phone higher or lower.
What iPhone model are you owning? Have you had Face ID problems in the past? Has the device gone through a screen replacement performed by a third-party repair shop?
Yes, have Face ID problem, need to update with iOS 16…..
Or downgrade back to iOS 15.7
My phone is doing the same thing I Just updated to IOS 15.7.1 and my Face ID isn’t working. I tried Turing off my phone resetting my ID and still not working. And I have the iPhone 12
Same issue for me. Too lazy to downgrade iOS on my Mac so I’ll just wait for apple fix.

It’s the same as downgrading from iOS 16.0.3, you need to download the specific iOS 15.7 IPSW File and use a computer to downgrade.
My Face ID stopped working after updating to 15.7.1 this morning. iPhone 12 Pro. Resetting Face ID doesn’t resolve issue. Just keeps saying move your face higher and lower.
