Apple has released iOS 16.4.1a the first ever Security Response update for an iPhone and iPad! It’s a new type of software release that brings security improvements to your device, without an actual software update!

Rapid security responses for iOS and iPadOS are installed automatically if you have the option enabled in Settings. However, we recommend you to do avoid automatic updates and keep things on manual. Here is how to proceed:

  • 3. Tap Download and Install.
  • 4. Enter device passcode and be patient until the patch is downloaded, prepared and installed.
  • Tip: to toggle between automatic / manual Security Response Updates go for Settings -> General -> Software Update -> Automatic Updates and toggle the Security Responses & System Files option On or Off.

    A: Yes, similar to a regular software update, the device will have to reboot for the changes to take effect. However, you can delay the restart by selecting Not Now when prompted.
