Apple has released iOS 16 Public Beta 6 build number 20A5358a, an identical version with Developer Beta 8. It’s probably the last fine tune before the iOS 16 RC (Release Candidate) version expected for next week, right before the iPhone 14 keynote, scheduled for September 7.

iOS 16 Public Beta 6 Features

Don’t expect new features in these final test versions. Nevertheless, changes spotted when referring to PB 5 are listed below:

  • Yellow battery icon displayed when asking Siri to turn On Low Power mode.

iOS 16 Public Beta 6 Issues

This is one of the last chances of reporting bugs, before the public release. Problems encountered in this update are listed below:

  • 1. Notifications delayed – they show up a couple of minutes later after they’ve been actually triggered. | Reported by zarudo_
  • 2. Haptics still playing even when Silent mode is enabled and “Play haptics in silent mode” setting is turned Off.
  • 3. Some external microphones aren’t recognized, ie. like Shure MV88.
  • 4. iPhone getting hot when charging.
    Workaround: Turn Off Optimized Battery Charging feature.
  • 5. CarPlay glitches out when playing music from Apple Music. Maps can also become laggy and position on the map can become outdated.
    Fix: Restart app.
  • 6. Face ID might not work after iOS 16 PB6 update.

iOS 16 Public Beta 6 Update

As usual, this release is available over-the-air in Settings -> General -> Software Update as long as the iOS 16 Beta profile is installed on your iPhone or iPad.

Tip: If your device runs a public iOS 15 version, you can enroll it to the iOS 16 public beta program by downloading and installing the iOS 16 Configuration Profile from the Apple Beta Software Program website. A step-by-step guide is available here.
