iOS 16 Allow Paste Popup? Would Like To Paste From? (Fix!)
Last updated on September 23rd, 2022 at 01:42 am
Posted in TILs by Patricia on September 18, 2022Are you annoyed by frequent iOS 16 Allow Paste requests? Popup asks if you would like to paste from and app to the other, even when data is imported between stock iOS applications? Here is what you can do about it!
iOS 16 Allow Paste Popup
This annoying behavior has been reported by Emilia on our iOS 16.0.1 review page:
“I’m frequently asked to allow paste between apps. Is this normal or a bug?”
I couldn’t replicate the issue on an iPhone 13 Pro but found similar reports on the web and most of them are related to the new iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models.
Are you also asked if you would like to paste from an app all the time? Share it in the comments please. Also mention iPhone model and which apps are triggering this popup.
iOS 16 Allow Paste Triggers
Apparently, Apple has changed the way apps are able to access the clipboard in iOS 16. This has been done to prevent them from copying/pasting data without permission, and third-party apps are yet to be update to this new behavior.
However, some iPhone 14 users complain that the ‘would like to paste from’ popup also shows between native iOS apps:
“Messages would like to paste from Safari.”
“Mail would like to paste from Safari.”
Are you experiencing the same?
Update: Apple has fixed this issue in iOS 16.1 Beta 2 and will most probably provide the fix in the upcoming iOS 16.0.2! Stay tuned!
Update 2: iOS 16.0.2 has been released and the ‘would like to paste from’ fix is confirmed in the release notes! However, users that have updated are still complaining about annoying Allow Paste popups! What’s your feedback? Share it in the comments!
How To Fix iOS 16 Would Like To Paste From Request
Unfortunately, if you tap Allow Paste the permission is valid only for the current action only and not for all upcoming interactions between the two apps.
The classic Always / Never / Once options for allowing an action are replaced by the dull Don’t Allow Paste and Allow Paste options, with the first one being bolded and suggested!
This means that you will be prompted with the ‘would you like to paste from’ request over and over again!
Unfortunately, at the time of writing, there’s no iOS 16 setting allowing you to disable Allow Paste popups. So, here are a few things that you could try:
1. Update Apps
As mentioned above, third-party apps might have to adapt to these new iOS 16 requirements. So, scan the App Store daily for new app updates and install them as soon as they become available.
ADHDK Reddit user, confirms that he’s not getting the Allow Paste requests for new, updated apps. Have you noticed the same.
2. Update iOS 16
The iOS 16 Allow Paste request are definitely glitching out and Apple will have to fine tune them in an upcoming software update.
This could come in a small iOS 16.0.2 release or later on in the scheduled iOS 16.1 update (October), which is currently beta tested.

Even with the 16.0.2 Update installed; My iphone 12 pro max is still getting CONSTANT paste permissiom pop-up boxes. Especially in WhatsApp!
Thanks for letting us know, Joey. Anyone else getting the same?
Yes. It’s very annoying, and an over the top constraint IMO!
Have you updated to iOS 16.1.2? I had a few select apps that have been prompting me with this popup, but they seem to have stopped after the latest update.
The way around it of course, is to use the web search option on the popup menu bar to search the internet using the selected word or phrase.
Same issue with my iPhone X with 16.0.2. Super annoying.
Thanks for confirming. Did you experience it too in iOS 16.0? Or this is the first 16 version that you’re running?
Updated iPhone 12 to current iOS. Still getting pop ups for pasting from Safari.
Thanks for confirming Michael. Apple missed the ball with this one too. It should come in the next update, as iOS 16.1 beta 2 has nailed it.
New iPhone XS with iOS 16.0.2
Annoying paste permissions as well.
Thanks for reporting.
I still have the same issue on an IPhone 13 Pro even though I mostly encounter it when pasting something from contacts into my local train/bus app.
I am constantly checking for updates for the app as well as iOS itself, but I had no luck yet.
Thanks for the feedback. Yes, this should be fixed by an app update.
How do you enable a previously disabled paste operation within an app?
You repeat the procedure… copy and past one more time.
There is still a problem with the permission to paste: / why we don’t have the “always allow” option:/ 😡😡😡😡
Thanks for the feedback. Does it happen with many apps or only for a few ones?
I just only now started getting this over and over again. iPhone 13 Pro with iOS 16.02 installed ….seems to be happening with one app specifically “Deliveries”.
Look for an update of that app in the App Store. It should be patched soon.
Same here. Iphone 14 pro max iOS 16.0.2 (20A380)
Every time I try to paste using same app I get the message “SwiftKey” would like to paste from “Settings”
Do vou want to allow this?”
Thanks for reporting. Have you checked the App Store if an update is available for SwiftKey?
IPhone XS Max, iOS 16.0.2 and I can confirmation I’m still getting asked to confirm paste.
Thanks for the feedback. Is it happening with several apps or just a particular one?
Still getting the issue why copy if you weren’t going to paste? Its a stupid question 😂🤦🏼♂️
Confirming on iPhone XR that both iOS16 and 16.0.2 both demonstrate same annoying issue with repeated copy/paste pop-up dialogue box. Definitely not fixed….yet.
Happens with any Apple or non-Apple app where copying & pasting is required (and sometimes when not required!)
Thanks for confirming Rick. We’ve reported this. Let’s hope that iOS 16.0.3 will successfully address it. It might be released today.
Unfortunately 16.0.3 for my iPhone 13 Pro Max and I am still getting constant prompts to allow the paste. Super annoying.
Thanks for reporting Isla. Are you getting it for one or two specific apps, or it doesn’t seem app-related?
Also at 16.03 the bug is still here with paste prompt. Very annoying if the will not fix it soon I will change to Samsung galaxy. Its Just terrbile that we payed so much on a phone that prompt me every minuten about pasting
Sorry to hear this Dolly. Is it happening with a specific app only or with several ones?
I have iphone mini 2022. Running 16.03.
I have never had a popup requesting permission to copy/paste. I have copy/pasted from various apps including safari. Apparently this feature is not working on my phone
I’m still having this issue on iOS 16.1
That’s crazy. Is it happening with a specific app or with several applications?
I get it on my phone for some apps. One is “Broadlink” that I use to control my Aircon. I feel THE question is “Why is this app trying to paste?”. Is it sending stuff back to base that it finds in people’s clipboard? And this was previously unknown to the user.
I think it is sus and I’d like apple to impliment the ability to block an app totaly from the clipboard. Currently I say no each time.
*Also it is often something pasted from another of my apple devices like my MacBook.
Thanks for the feedback. Perhaps the app has to update to iOS 16 standards and that’s why it’s still generating the popup. Have you checked for any available App Store update?
iOS 16.0.2 still getting the popups
You mean iOS 16.2 beta? iOS 16.0.2 is quite old, you can update to iOS 16.1.
iPadOS 16.1 is constantly getting this popup, which is super annoying and disturbing to my workflow :(
Thanks for reporting. Is it happening with multiple apps or just a few of them?
That’s really annoying.
For what apps are you getting the notification?
Still the same issue, iphone 13 pro, ios 16.1.1 everything updated. Read that handoff feature could be at fault but turning it off didn’t help either. Sigh
Thanks for the feedback. Is it happing with multiple apps or just a few specific ones?
Still getting this in iPad IOS 16.3.1
Cannot cut and paste in ios 16.4
Have you tried to reboot your device?
