To be clear only the Pro models get this update. The standard price affordable iPhone 11 still ships with the old charger, although it can handle fast charging. In fact, all iPhones starting with the iPhone 8 model can be fast charged, however Apple has decided to charge a premium for that and included the same old 5W wall plug with an USB-A cable.

Apparently Apple aims to finally ditch the Lightning port in favor of USB-C, but this will happen only for the 2020 iPhone lineup.
