iPhone 13 Pro Max Overheating In Safari (Left Side Area)
Is your iPhone 13 Pro Max overheating weeks after you started using it? Is the left side of the device getting hot? In the area of the Volume buttons? Does this happen when you browse the web in Safari?
iPhone 13 Pro Max Overheating Issue
This unusual behavior has been reported to us by Jimmy:
“I have a similar problem with my iPhone 13 pro max. It’s overheating on the left side, volume button area. It happens while using Safari!”
Although I couldn’t replicate the issue at the time of writing, I found similar reports on the MacRumors Forums.
Users complaining about this issue mention that the devices get really hot when browsing the web through Safari. Strange enough, it seems that not all websites cause the new iPhone to warmup.
How To Fix iPhone 13 Pro Max Overheating
Some users blame the iPhone 13 Pro Max overheating problem on the ads that are loaded when browsing web pages. However, older iPhone models won’t feel hot while browsing the same websites.
As a temporary workaround you can try to use an ad blocker if you’re not already using one.
Vice-versa if you use and ad blocker and your iPhone 13 Pro Max overheats, pause it and check if it makes a difference.
Tip: Also check if your device is using Safari Extensions, a new iOS 15 feature. Disable them and check if the iPhone feels hot again!

I have a new iPhone 13 mini 128 and it’s just started to get extremely hot on the top back when I use Facebook (no streaming audio or video) and when using Edge for iOS. This is new. Once I stop either actions, it will cool down again. I had an iPhone 11 and it ran cool all the time doing the same activities. I do realize that this has a faster processor in a smaller chassis so it will get naturally warm when the processor starts to work harder. But this gets hot to the touch now. I do not have any apps running in the background and my 5G /Cell data is off. It doesn’t get hot charging and overall runs fine, except for this new “Overheating” issue. Possibly a bug in iOS 15.X? Let’s hope Apple gets enough complaints and creates an update fix for this. Funny, the iPhone 11 doesn’t overheat at all on iOS 15.2. Hmm.
Thanks for the feedback Braden. Are Facebook and MS Edge apps updated to the latest version available in the App Store?
Every time I am on American Eagles webpage it slows down and gets hot fast. Right by the volume buttons on the back of the phone. It’s the only website I noticed that has this affect on my phone. I have the iPhone 13 Pro Max
Thanks for reporting. Try updating to iOS 15.3 and let us know if it makes any difference!
I’m also having the same issue of getting my iPhone 13 pro max heated, it’s nothing related to by using safari. It normally gets heated. What should I do about it?
Update to the recently released iOS 15.3. Does it help?
I bought my phone about a week ago and have the same overheating issues either when playing a low-end games like card games. It has gotten so hot at times it has started to degrade the integrity of my case. It also gets hot when I am charging it and trying to do anything on my phone. Everything I have asked this phone to do all my other iPhones has been able to accomplish without overheating.
I Dont know the reason Iam not into technology more but phone started heating near the volume buttons
