Are you experiencing iPhone 14 Pro camera lag? Is the viewfinder loading slow when you open the stock Camera app. Swapping from Photo to Portrait is a couple of seconds delayed? Others are experiencing this too!
iPhone 14 Pro Camera Lags?
The issue has been reported by Margaret:
“iphone 14 pro camera is also glitching out with the stock app. It’s loading very slow and acting laggy. let’s hope it’s a software thing!”
We couldn’t replicate this problem, but have found similar reports on Reddit:
“…when accessing the camera via the iOS camera app, the app takes a noticeably long time to load.”
Apparently, only some iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models are affected by the issue. If you experience the same behavior please share your feedback in the comments and provide any details that could help us find the trigger.
Update: Apple has released iOS 16.0.3 and a fix for the iPhone 14 pro camera lag is mentioned in the release notes. Please update and confirm the fix in the comments!
How To Fix iPhone 14 Pro Camera Lagging
Unfortunately, at the time of writing, there’s not permanent fix for this issue. You can apply the following workarounds, but they might help only temporary:
1. Re-Open Camera App
Restarting the app might flush minor glitches that could cause the Camera slowness.
- Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to access the App Switcher.
- Swipe-up on the Camera app card to force close it.
- Go back to the Home Screen and re-open the app.
2. Restart iPhone
A second option requires you to reboot the entire device, in an attempt to clear iPhone 14 RAM and other processes that might cause the slow Camera issue.
Tip: Use the force restart combo for a quick procedure.

Conclusion: The fact that the problem is only affecting a small part of iPhone 14 Pro owners, might also hint towards a bad batch, that might have shipped faulty camera modules. But until any official acknowledgments, let’s hope that this is a software bug that will be fixed in iOS 16.0.2!

I am also facing the same issue. Photo and portrait mode is taking time while opening and switching between them. Reported to apple technical support. They told issue is related to software and forwarded this issue to their engineering team. Hope this issue resolved soon.

IOS 16.0.2 Same issue remains when opening camera app. It freezes with a blank screen and can take up to 8 seconds before the viewfibder view is displayed on the screen. Very slow and laggy.

Still happening in iOS 16.2. I have the 14 pro and just updated to 16.0.2 and it’s still taking forever to load.

I too have the same issue, updating the iOS did not fix it. Camera takes forever to load. To replicate this, try to switch from normal photo mode to portrait and vice versa.

Yes I’m facing same issue camera lagged so badly even after update and its only happpin pro models i have called apple support and they don’t have any solutions yet this time apple sucks
Thanks for sharing. We’ll have to wait it out it seems. What’s strange is that not all devices are affected. Or, the lag isn’t occurring every time. My friend’s iPhone 14 Pro switches flawlessly between them.
I wonder if a restore in Finder would fix it. You can try connecting to Mac or Windows computer and go for Restore iPhone. It will reinstall the current iOS version on the device. Make sure that you save a create a full backup before starting.
Exact same issue. I was told in Apple to try doing factory reset of the phone and not transfer data from previous model.

Hey guys don’t worry i had this issue and boom its gone i was going through all settings and now its just a simple thing just TURN OFF your night mode it will work fine

Spoke to Apple support. They make me record screens showing the issue 3 different times. And sending them the log files. It’s so annoying tho. Only the back camera having lag issue. Front cam works fine.
Have you tried to disable Night Mode? An user suggested that this will clear the lag. Can you confirm any differences?

Tried installing a third party app and the issue persists. It’s alarming now, as it is not only affecting the Stock camera app. Could this be a hardware issue?

If you want to test it out yourself you can install the current iOS 16.1 Beta 3 and see if you’re still encountering the same problem.

Important: Do backup your iPhone before installing the beta, to be able to safely return to iOS 16.0.2 and restore if you’re not happy with the beta version.
Same issues as everyone above and did everything they’ve said to do and it didn’t help.

Yrss camera lags in stock app , whatsapp , snapchat and all other camera using third party apps on my iphone 14 pro that i bought just 3 days ago. I tried everything discussed above but nothing worked. So annoyed 😑

Seems only when turning to back camera will cause delay, and the screen is freezing, is kind of blank.
Front camera photo Ok.
Video both cameras are working fine.
iOS 16.0.3 cannot solve this problem.

I have an iphone 14 plus. I only have issue with using the time lapse. I have updated my IOS to the latest software but still not fixed. I hope it’s really a software issue
