macOS Monterey Mail Not Working

We’ve got numerous reports from iPhoneTricks.org readers that complain on our macOS 12 review page, that iCloud Mail doesn’t work after updating:

Mark R. was the first one to mention this problem:

“I updated to macOS 12.0.1 a couple of days ago, now I can’t see e-mails in the Mail app. I can see my emails if I look at them through a web browser.”

Peter confirms:

“Since upgrading to 12.0.1, my emails from my iCloud account under the Apple Email app are blank. I can view them in other email services and on the web.”

Steven S. informs:

“Using iCloud for mail. The odd thing is, older mail messages are ok, it is more recent ones that don’t show the content (they show up in the list of mail, but when you try to read there is no content.)”

How to Fix Mail Not Working On Mac

It seems that a macOS Monterey bug prevents the Mail app from communicating with iCloud.

Mark P. informs that Apple support suggested him to stop using any antivirus software. After removing Avast the iCloud Mail issue has been solved!

So, if you’re using a third-party VPN or antivirus software (Avast, AVG or other) on your Mac you might want to temporarily disable it and check if this allows the Mail app to display iCloud emails!

How To: Disable antivirus functions or delete it in System Preferences -> Network -> [Antivirus Name].
