ProMotion display not working in iOS 16? Text and images on your iPad are blurry when scrolling after iPadOS 16.1 update? All settings are fine but the device simply doesn’t perform as it should at 120 frames per second?

This problem has been reported by Louis:
“Since iPadOS 16.1.1 it’s like pro motion is not working – text and images when scrolling are blurry to the point it looks like a regular iPad 8 or below.”
We’ve found similar complaints on Reddit but they’re not recent and not iOS 16 / iPadOS 16 related.

How To Fix ProMotion Display Not Working
Until we have more info regarding this unexpected behavior, please check the following settings on your iPad, iPhone or Mac:
1. Check Settings
- Low Power Mode has to be turned off, in Control Center.
- Dark Mode has to be disabled, from Control Center.
- True Tone has to be inactive in Settings -> Display & Brightness.
2. Cycle ProMotion Option
- Open Settings and go for Accessibility.
- Tap on Motion.
- Limit Frame Rate has to be off for pro motion to work.
Tip: If it’s already turned off (it should be by default), use the switch to turn it ON -> force quit Settings -> return to the same menu and turn it back Off.
3. Restart Device
If you’re still encountering issues with the ProMotion feature reboot your iPad. A fresh start could fix temporary glitches and allow the display to run properly at 120 frames per second.
