Red Sun Weather App Bug In iOS 16, 16.1 & 16.1.1? (Fixed!)

This problem has been reported by Bob (iOS 16.1):
“How do I get rid of the red sun on the weather that happened after I updated to 16.1?”
We could replicate the issue and have also found similar complaints on Reddit:
“Why has my sun icon in the weather app become red after iOS 16.1 update?”
How To Fix Red Sun Weather App Bug
Until Apple fixes this bug in an upcoming software update, you should apply the following workaround:
- 1. Open Settings and scroll for Accessibility.
- 2. Tap on Display & Text Size.
- 3. Turn Off Increase Contrast.
Fact: Apparently, the Weather app isn’t able to process with this Accessibility feature in the Today View.

Just the way some colors contrast on your device. It’s an Accessibility issue for visually impaired people. iOS 16.1.2 has been released with bug fixes:

You can update and re-enable the Accessibility setting to see if the bug was fixed and if this workaround is still needed.
