This problem has been reported by JM:

“iMessage repeat alerts stopped working since iOS 16.2 update. Only one notification for incoming SMS. Repeat 2x /3x/5x/10x every 2 minutes not functioning.”

We couldn’t replicate this issue but have found several other reports regarding Repeat Alerts in iOS 16 on Reddit. Most of them are complaining that Customize Notifications option isn’t available in Messages:
1:

“New iPhone 13 Pro with iOS 16 missing Repeat Alerts Option for messages.”

2:

“I can’t find repeat alert to turn it off on a new phone in iOS 16.”

How To Fix Messages Repeat Alerts Not Working

Here are the troubleshooting options that you should try out:

1. Reboot iPhone

Users have confirmed that they managed to fix Customize Notifications not available in Settings -> Messages -> Notifications, after rebooting the device.

Tip: We recommend you to perform a force restart for quicker results.

2. Reconfigure Repeat Alerts

If Customize Notifications is available and you’ve turned On Repeat Alerts, but are getting a single notification, try to cycle this option:

• 1. Go for Setting -> Messages -> Notifications.
• 2. Scroll for Customize Notifications.
• 3. Tap Repeat Alerts and select Never.
• 4. Reboot iPhone.
• 5. Return to the above menu and select Twice, 3x, 5x or any other alert number.
