tvOS 15.5.1 Update Fixes Music Stops Playing Issue

Apple has released tvOS 15.5.1 (19L580), a minor Apple TV software update, to fix an issue that caused music to suddenly stop playing. This bug affects the HomePod too, so there’s also a new 15.5.1 version for the smart speakers too.

tvOS 15.5.1 comes only 10 days after, 15.5, which was the 5th significant improvement of tvOS 15. It’s a minor bug fixing update that might include also other under-the-hood improvements that haven’t been mentioned by Apple in the tvOS update notes!

If automatic updates are disabled on your Apple TV you have to update manually as follows:

• Use the remote and go for Settings -> System -> Software Updates.
• tvOS 15.5.1 update should show up on your TV. Select Update Now.
• Select Download and Install. Be patient until the update is prepared, verified and installed.

Tips: Do not unplug your Apple TV while it’s updating, even if the image briefly disappears from the TV screen! The device automatically reboots when the update is completed.
