Is my Apple Watch watchOS 8 compatible? I have some great news, if your wrist-worn gadget is able to run watchOS 7, it’s also supported by the 8th watchOS generation! Similar to iOS 15 and iPhones, watchOS 8 is compatible with all Apple Watch models that are running its previous version.
watchOS 8 Compatible Devices
If you own an Apple Watchs Series 3, rest assured your gadget has made the cut! Nevertheless, you will still likely have to go through the annoying restoring process, to be able to accommodate each new watchOS 8 version, storage wise.
All watchOS 8 supported devices are:
- Apple Watch Series 6
- Apple Watch SE
- Apple Watch Series 5
- Apple Watch Series 4
- Apple Watch Series 3
Fact: Of course that the anticipated Apple Watch Series 7 will be added to this list, by the watchOS 8 public release date, anticipated for this fall.
watchOS 8 Requirements
Besides a compatible Apple Watch you also need an iOS 15 compatible iPhone. Of course the smartphone has to be updated to iOS 15 first, before watchOS 8 will become available in the Software Update section of the Watch app.
Fact: The oldest iPhone models supported by iOS 15 are the 6S and SE (1st gen.).
