Disney Plus Price Increase 2022: $10.99 (+$3) [How To Avoid]
Disney has announced that U.S. users will have to deal with a Disney Plus price increase of 38% by the end of 2022. Basically, if you want to continue to watch Disney+ without ads, after December 8, you will have to pay $10.99 per month instead of the current $7.99.
Disney Plus Price Increase
That’s a full $3 price hike per month or a huge 38% bump! Of course, the official statement announces a new ad-Supported Disney+ subscription tier that will “delivering more choice to consumers than ever before”.
How To Avoid Disney Plus Price Increase
Basically, they’re trying to mask the price increase with a new add-supported subscription. This means that if you want to avoid the price bump you have to accept ads while watching your favorite movies and TV Series!
Tip: Another way would be to opt for the annual subscription tiers, where available! The Disney+ premium membership (no ads) costs $109.99 if you opt to pay it annually. That brings the price down to around $9.16 per month instead of $10.99 paid monthly.
Hulu Price Increase 2022
That’s not all! Disney will also increase the Hulu subscription prices starting with October 8:
- $2 more for Hulu without ads going up to $14.99 from
$12.99 - Hulu add-supported subscription also goes up $1 to $7.99 from
$6.99
Tip: You can get the add-based subscription Tier for cheaper if you pay it annually. That’s $79.99. This will bring the Hulu monthly subscription fee down to approx. $6.66
Disney Plus Bundle Subscription Prices After Price Increase
- Basic: Disney+, Hulu (with Ads) – $9.99 per month
- Basic: Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+ (with Ads) – $12.99 per month
- Premium: Disney+ (No Ads), Hulu (No Ads), ESPN+ (With Ads) – $19.99 per month
- Current Customers: Disney+ (No Ads), Hulu (With Ads), ESPN+ (With Ads) – $14.99 (That’s $1 price hike from

Disney Plus Subscribers Count
According to Disney’s third quarter earnings report, Disney+ has gained 14.4 million subscribers during previous three months. The company now has over 221 million subscribers for its streaming platforms. More details here.
Do you think that this number will decrease after the recently announced Disney+ prices increases? What’s your take on this price increase? Do you agree to get ads while you’re paying for a premium streaming service? Will you prefer to go for the extra bucks, or unsubscribe from Disney+?

It’s very annoying. The entire purpose of paying for the services is to avoid cable bills and endless ads. Every hike we get closer and closer to cable pricing (when you combine all the services a person chooses to subscribe to) and ads keep becoming more and more integrated. I’m very frustrated. $10 or so more a year adds up when it’s also Netflix and Amazon and everyone else. I’ve already cut Netflix. If Marvel and Star Wars movies continue to decline in quality, I may dump Disney too.
Thanks for the feedback. It’s frustrating indeed. Wait until we end up to pay monthly subscriptions for car features.
I 100% – no, 1000% – agree with you. The whole point is AVOIDING cable pricing and all the awful Ads.
I’ve already dumped Disney due to the price hike. And the whole bundling thing is essentially pushing consumers back to cable pricing.
If it gets too ridiculously priced i will cancel
Even though we go to disney every yr for vacation, i won’t be taken advantage of.At least give your customers something in return for charging so much more but you won’t .That would mean your customers are important !
Unfortunately, all prices seem to increase these days.
They are trying to get the prices up to CABLE prices by nickel and diming it’s subscribers. This was their plan all along ALL THE STREAMING SERVICES. Trust me there are “other” ways of getting that programming. I just cancelled the Rotten Mouse after having them since Day one. Oh well they will be pushing pirate broadcasting right back up to where it was before they gave us affordable streaming options. Their greed knows NO bounds.
Thanks for your opinion. I agree that this will encourage pirate streaming. The worst thing is that all streaming platforms are lining up with price increases. Too bad.
