Disney has announced that U.S. users will have to deal with a Disney Plus price increase of 38% by the end of 2022. Basically, if you want to continue to watch Disney+ without ads, after December 8, you will have to pay $10.99 per month instead of the current $7.99.

That’s a full $3 price hike per month or a huge 38% bump! Of course, the official statement announces a new ad-Supported Disney+ subscription tier that will “delivering more choice to consumers than ever before”.

How To Avoid Disney Plus Price Increase

Basically, they’re trying to mask the price increase with a new add-supported subscription. This means that if you want to avoid the price bump you have to accept ads while watching your favorite movies and TV Series!

Tip: Another way would be to opt for the annual subscription tiers, where available! The Disney+ premium membership (no ads) costs $109.99 if you opt to pay it annually. That brings the price down to around $9.16 per month instead of $10.99 paid monthly.

Hulu Price Increase 2022

That’s not all! Disney will also increase the Hulu subscription prices starting with October 8:

  • $2 more for Hulu without ads going up to $14.99 from $12.99
  • Hulu add-supported subscription also goes up $1 to $7.99 from $6.99
  • Tip: You can get the add-based subscription Tier for cheaper if you pay it annually. That’s $79.99. This will bring the Hulu monthly subscription fee down to approx. $6.66

  • Basic: Disney+, Hulu (with Ads) – $9.99 per month
  • Basic: Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+ (with Ads) – $12.99 per month
  • Premium: Disney+ (No Ads), Hulu (No Ads), ESPN+ (With Ads) – $19.99 per month
  • Current Customers: Disney+ (No Ads), Hulu (With Ads), ESPN+ (With Ads) – $14.99 (That’s $1 price hike from $13.99)

Disney Plus Subscribers Count

According to Disney’s third quarter earnings report, Disney+ has gained 14.4 million subscribers during previous three months. The company now has over 221 million subscribers for its streaming platforms. More details here.
