Got a popup informing your that Pipidae will damage your computer? You’re asked to move it to the Trash but the same window pops up again a couple of minutes later? You’re most likely dealing with Pipidae malware on Mac!

Pipidae Virus On Mac?

This issue has been reported by Anna:

“I’m getting a strange ‘Pipidae will damage your computer’ popup. It looks like malware. I’m asked to move it to Trash. I do it and empty the damn thing but it comes back a couple of minutes later.”

I haven’t experienced this problem before, but there are plenty other Macs infected with this virus. The most recent report I found online is this one on Reddit:

“‘pipidae’ popup on Mac. What should I do?”

Most likely this issue is caused by something that you’ve downloaded recently on your MacBook. It can be a browser extensions or some other software that did not came through the Mac App Store.

How To Get Rid Of Pipidae Malware on Mac

Other users managed to fix the pipidae error with the help of Malwarebytes. Try the following:

  • 1. Download and Install Malwarebytes for Mac. (Direct link)
  • 2. Open the new software and click on Get Started.
  • 3. Go for Maybe later to skip the Premium membership (The software comes with a free 14-day Premium trial).
  • 4. Open System Settings -> Privacy & Security and allow full disk access to Malwarebytes Protection.
  • 5. Click Scan and follow the on-screen prompts.
  • Tip: The Pipidae malware will be detected on your Mac. Use Malwarebytes to delete it and you should be fine!
