Apple TV sound issues have been reported by Magnus (tvOS 16.5):
“Have sound problems in update tvOS update 16.5. Anyone else?”
We couldn’t replicate the issue but have found a similar complaint on Reddit.
Apparently, audio problems can be encountered after tvOS 16.5 update by users that use a sound system instead of the smart TV’s built-in speakers.
How To Fix Apple TV Sound Not Working
There can be various causes for audio issues in tvOS 16. Here are some of the most common fixes:
1. Reboot Apple TV
First, you should restart your device. There might be a minor glitch that can be easily fixed with a reboot.
How to: You can restart Apple TV from Settings -> System -> Restart, or with the help of the Siri Remote restart combo.
2. Stereo Output Setting
If you’re using a sound system and not the Samsung TV’s smart speakers you should try to set Apple TV audio output to stereo:
- 1. Open Settings and go for Video and Audio.
- 2. Select Audio Format.
- 3. Go for Stereo instead of Auto!
