Tenaa, the Chinese counterpart of the U.S. FCC (Federal Communications Commissions), has recently certified the iPhone X and reveals that the iPhone ‘Ten’ packs a 2,716 mAh battery and 3 GB of RAM (Source: Chinese). These are two specs that Apple doesn’t provide to the public during keynotes and only updates them on their official website after the device goes on sale.

Knowing the battery capacity of the 10th iPhone generation allows us to compare it with the other two 2017 flagships, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, as well as their predecessors. If you’re planning to upgrade your smartphone read on and find out which iPhone should have the best screen on time and decide if you wait for the iPhone X pre-orders or purchase an already available iPhone 8 or 8 Plus.

iPhone X vs iPhone 8 vs iPhone 8 Plus Battery Capacity

iPhone X: 2,716 mAh
iPhone 8 Plus: 2675 mAh
iPhone 7 Plus: 2,900 mAh
iPhone 6S Plus: 2,750 mAh

iPhone 8: 1,821 mAh

Conclusions: If we check the above values we can underline the following aspects:

– the iPhone 8-line has lost battery capacity when compared to the 7-line.

iPhone 8 vs iPhone 8 Plus vs iPhone X Screen-On Time
iphone x, iphone 8 and iphone 8 plus screen size comparison
Apple has advertised, during the September 12 keynote, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus as having the same screen-on time compared to their 7 siblings. The lower battery capacity is compensated by a more power friendly A11 Bionic chip and an overall better software optimization.
When it comes to the comparison with the iPhone X, we have to take in account that the 10th anniversary iPhone has the largest battery of them all but also the largest screen real estate as shown in this comparison. The iPhone ‘Ten’ has the advantage of the OLED Display that is more power-friendly than its LCD counterpart. OLEDs are also smaller in size thus allowing Apple to fit a larger battery in a smaller frame. It runs the same A11 Bionic chip and our expectations place it as having the longest screen-on time of the pack.

Apple’s Official Claims For Screen-On Time
iPhone 8: Lasts about the same as iPhone 7.
iPhone 8 Plus: Lasts about the same as iPhone 7 Plus.
