iOS 12.5.7 Update: Features, Security Fixes, Issues & More
Apple has released iOS 12.5.7 update for iPhone 5s, 6, 6 Plus and iPad Air, mini 2, mini 3 and iPod touch (6th gen.). Build number 16H81 brings security fixes to iOS devices that can’t be updated to iOS 15 and newer.
iOS 12.5.7 Update
The new software is available, as usual, over-the-air in:
- 1. Settings -> General -> Software Update.
- 2. Tap Download and Install.
- 3. Input iPhone passcode and be patient until the update is requested, download, prepared, verified and installed on your device.
Fact: The iPhone 5s is still getting software updates close to 10 years since its release date (September 20, 2013)!
iOS 12.5.7 Features
As mentioned above there are no new features expected in this update. The release notes inform about “important security updates” that are recommended for all users!

iOS 12.5.7 Security Fixes
Apple’s security support document for this update mentions a single vulnerability that has been addressed:
“Impact: Processing maliciously crafted web content may lead to arbitrary code execution.”
The issue has been fixed with improved state handling. More info available here.
