Bugs and problems reported by users or encountered by us are highlighted in this section:

  • 1. Car wireless charging not working anymore on 2023 Chevy Bolt EUV for this Reddit user.
  • 2. Keyboard laggy for several users although Apple claims (in the release notes) that keyboard unresponsiveness has been fixed. Reported by TechKingATL.
    Fix: Reset Keyboard Dictionary in Settings -> General -> Transfer or Reset iPhone.
  • 3. Default notification sound can’t be changed. An issue reported since the initial iOS 17 version.
  • 4. iOS 17.1 Unable to install error after downloading update?
    Fix: Reboot iPhone and try again!
  • 5. Double notifications triggered by various apps. It’s a day-one iOS 17 bug that appears to have not been fixed.
    Potential fix: Install app updates from the App Store.
  • 6. Profile photos not showing in notifications on Lock Screen. An unfixed iOS 17.0 bug.
  • 7. iPhone turning off at night during charging hasn’t been fixed. More details here.

iOS 17.1 Bug Fixes

Apple mentions seven problems that have been addressed in this update:

  • 1. Keyboard unresponsive or less responsive has been fixed!
  • 2. Custom ringtones not showing up as option for text tone has been addressed!
  • 3. Burn in display bug has been fixed too! More details here.
  • 4. Significant Location privacy setting resetting when transferring or pairing an Apple Watch has been solved.
  • 5. Incoming caller name not showing when user is on another call is now fixed!
  • 6. Screen Time settings syncing across devices should work as expected.
  • 7. Crash detection has been optimized on all compatible devices!

iOS 17.1 Security Fixes

Apple will only publish the security patches of this version after the public release, which is expected as early as Monday, October 24! Stay tuned for updates!
