macOS Ventura 13.6 Security Fixes

The security document of this update mentions two vulnerabilities that have been patched:

Kernel

Issue: A local attacker may be able to elevate their privileges. This may have been actively exploited in versions before iOS 16.7.
Fix: The issue was fixed with improved checks.

Security

Issue: A malicious app may be able to bypass signature validation. This may have been actively exploited in versions before iOS 16.7.
Fix: A certificat validation issue was resolved.

Fact: These are the same vulnerabilities addressed by macOS Sonoma 14 RC2 version!

As usual, this update is available over-the-air in System Settings:

  • 1. Click for General -> Software Update.
  • 2. macOS Ventura 13.6 update should show up on the screen.
  • 3. Tap Update Now or Install Now.
  • 4. Agree with ToS, input Password and be patient until the new software is requested, downloaded, prepared, verified and installed on your device!
