Contact names not showing in Messages after iOS 17 update? The phone number is displayed instead making it difficult to recognize the conversation partner? It happens only with iMessages? Here is what to do!
Contact Names Not Showing Up In Messages?
This issue has been reported by Vanessa:
“Contact names not showing for imessage!”
We couldn’t replicate this unexpected behavior but have seen similar complaints on Reddit:
“iMessage bug, contact names don’t appear, only their phone number.”
How To Fix Contact Names Not Showing iOS 17 Issue
Apparently, this problem should be easily fixed by force closing Messages:
- Swipe-up from the bottom to bring up the App Switcher.
- Swipe the Messages card up to quit it.
- Reopen Messages and check if the contact names reappeared?
