Are you often experiencing media player stuck on Lock Screen? iPhone displays an empty Now Playing widget that can’t be swiped away? You’re not the only one affected by this unexpected behavior!

This issue has been reported by Seba:
“I’m having an empty Now Playing widget on the lock screen that won’t go away!”
I’ve experienced it myself a couple of times and have seen others complain about it on Reddit:
“Media player always shows on my lock screen. How can i deactivate?”
How To Fix Now Playing Stuck On Lock Screen
Apparently this problem is caused by an app that’s been previously used for media playback. It can be Safari, YouTube Music or anything similar.
The fix at the moment requires you to force close the app in question:
- 1. Swipe-up from the bottom of the screen to open the App Switcher.
- 2. Browse to the card of the app that you’ve previously used.
- 3. Swipe it up to dismiss it and force quit the software.
Fact: The Media player should disappear from the Lock Screen? Did it? If not you might have closed the wrong app.
Tip: You can also perform a force restart of the device if the problem persists!
Important: In some cases Now Playing might show up as an empty notification box on Lock Screen when you play music via the Home app and you leave your home. In this case you can easily swipe-left on the notification box and clear it!
