- 2. Do the same for Volume Down.
- 3. Press and hold the Side button until the screen turns black and a white Apple logo is displayed on the screen.

By soft restart we understand the classic device restart procedure, that requires you to Power Off the device, wait a couple of seconds and power it back On.
Force restarting is more straightforward, it implies a single button combination and the iPhone will do the rest. While soft resetting is a two step procedure and takes a bit longer. The end result is the same.

I have a 13 Pro Max and have found numerous bugs and options that r missing. I tried to do a hard reset as u explained but I can’t get it to work. Although I have Siri turned off everywhere, when I press and hold the side button a screen appears asking if I want to enable Siri. I continue to hold the side button down and and answered no so the screen goes away but it seems to interrupt the process and the screen never turns black. Need some help please!
Teresa you have to do it the other way around. First click & quickly release Volume Up, followed by Volume Down and only then press & hold Side Button to trigger the hard reset action. If you just press & hold Side button you will only wake up Siri.
Doesn’t work at all for me.
What iPhone model do you have?
I have an iPhone XS and very slow to charge after update 16.
Thanks for reporting. Try to change the charging method. Are you charging from Mac? use a wall charger until this issue is addressed.
I have done the force restart and it keeps coming back the next day. I also had the problem with my battery not keeping a charge, before this update I did not have any problems with my phone.
Sorry to hear this. You can still revert to iOS 15 if these issues are too much for you and return to 16.x when it’s better fine tuned. Here is how to:

However, if you have an Apple Watch already updated to watchOS 9 or later it will stop working.
