MagSafe accessories are the new thing when it comes to the 2020 iPhone flagships. Users that upgraded to the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro lineup are embracing the new ‘wireless’ magnetic charging option provided by Apple. A Reddit user has even designed and3D printed his his own MagSafe docking station! And the do-it-yourself stand looks great!
He was king enough to share his project and now you can build your own iPhone 12 stand. You’re not owning a 3D printer? No worries. The MagSafe charging dock plans are public and you can send them to any local shop that provides 3D printing services.
How To Build Your Own iPhone 12 MagSafe Charging Dock

- 1. Download the plans from thingiverse.com (direct link).
Donate: You can tip the creator of this project by using the Tip Designer button. - 2. Unzip the downloaded package and use the magsafe_mount.stl file to 3D print the dock’s components via your own printer, or using third-party 3D printing services.
- 3. Tap the holes and add the MagSafe charging puck with a set screw.
Fact: You need an Apple MagSafe charger ($39) that’s embedded in the newly manufactured charging dock.
How To Use: Place the new stand on your desk, connect the Magsafe charger to a power outlet and snap your iPhone 12 in place! In fact, to be able to fast charge your new device you also need a new 20W USB-C power adapter, priced at $19!
iPhone 12 MagSafe Charging Dock Tips
This do-it-yourself iPhone 12 dock, uses your existing MagSafe Apple charger to create a magnetic smartphone mount. The design also comes with cavities at the bottom of the stand, that give you the option to glue 1/4 x 1/4 x 3/4 magnets, if you want your MagSafe dock to stick to iron surfaces and allow you to snap and unsnap your iPhone without holding the stand with your other hand!
