Apple has seeded iOS 17 beta and as expected this early test version comes with its fair share of bugs, glitches and issues. We plan to track them all here along with available workarounds and fixes.
iOS 17 Beta Issues
Below you can find the bug list along with any available fixes:
- 1. Keyboard covers chat and typing field in Messages, Safari, Facebook, Snapchat, WhatsApp, Telegram and other apps the require text input. Reported by this Reddit user.
Workaround: A couple of temporary fixes are available here. - 2. Magnifier missing from screenshot editor.
- 3. Music playback progression bar not accurate. Reported by Reddit user.
- 4. Cannot Create Snapshot error message when trying to play Music in CarPlay. Reported by Shleemy_Pants.
- 5. Black vertical line when zooming a photo in the built-in Translate app. Bug reported by idol_of_roses.
- 6. Add widget to Lock Screen not working in iOS 17 beta 1. Reported by thelastofeveryone.
Workaround: Reboot iPhone. - 7. Clock disappearing when browsing thrid-party apps like TikTok, YouTube and others. Reported by fkafuu.
Temporary Fix: Restart iPhone. - 8. Volume buttons not affecting sound of video playback. Reported by Double_sushi.
Fix: Turn off Silent mode from the switch. - 9. Third-party apps freeze when opening. Affected apps YouTube, Google Maps, Discord, Deezer and more. Reported by _Tomme_.
- 10. Notifications not working for some third-party apps like WhatsApp.
- 11. AirPods case battery status missing from battery widget in iOS 17 Beta 1. Reported by FN-4051.
- 12. Remote app not working for some users with LG TV Airplay in iOS 17 B1.
- 13. Settings app crashes when enabling Crossfade Apple Music option.
- 14. Start timer shortcut not working in iOS 17 beta 1.
Workaround: Avoid setting timer in settings. - 15. No missed calls when Live Voicemail is enabled and the caller gets to the voicemail greeting. Reported by JoshTylerClarke.
- 16. Unlock iPhone doesn’t work during Live Voicemail transcription. Reported by Reddit user.
Workaround: Swipe-up to unlock and tap on the call button in the Dynamic Island to return to the full screen voicemail. - 17. Decline call not working when iPhone is locked.
- 18. Swipe up to unlock displays duplicated at the top of the Lock Screen.
- 19. Sleep Focus turns ON randomly without any reason. This iOS 17 issue has been reported by BiteofAPPL.

Important: If you encounter the above issues, or others not mentioned here please mention item in the comments. We will report them to Apple and you can do the same! The more reports the more likely problems will be addressed in the upcoming versions.

Keyboard not working properly for me too! It vanishes in several apps, blocks content. It’s affecting my productivity!
Settings app crashed when I enabled AM crossfade. I can’t open Music settings menu ever since. Settings crashes every single time. Strange enough the new crossfade feature seems to work!

When answering phone while in lock mode, the screen stays on the home page not allowing you to use hands free talking or keyboard, etc. it even stays in locked mode when swiping up.

I’m not getting 1/2 of my notifications. It tells me I’m not connected to my network, my keyboard disappears randomly. There are a lot of bugs

iPhone 12 Pro Max
I’ve had to record three full 15 minute sessions and still no voice. At least I’ve got most of the lines memorized by now …
Day One: After recording the first full session and waiting some time, I exported a 100 MB zip file of the recordings to my laptop that supposedly can be imported later. Then accidentally deleted the original—and found that there’s no Import function.
Checked with Apple Support and they said that the Beta has limited functionality and “Import isn’t one of those functions” … so the Export function is useless. The reason I was messing around with the settings to begin with is it had been 12 hours and I was still stuck at 0%.
Recorded another full fifteen minute session after the chat with Apple Support.
Day Two: Still stuck at zero percent. I read there was a glitch if the battery is at 100% the processing won’t start, so let it drain for a while and plugged it back in. Still no movement. A few hours later went to turn off Cloud Sharing with other devices, thinking that might be why it’s held up at zero percent.
Oops. Another glitch. Turn off Cloud Sharing and no more than five seconds later the entire Personal Voice disappeared right in front of my eyes just as if it had been deleted, which forced me to start all over again.
Then I noted another glitch: If I start and then pause recording on the examples, time remaining goes from 15 minutes to 10 minutes remaining to 1 minute remaining—all with nothing recorded yet. The Export function that was previously a 108 MB ZIP file is now 240 bytes, which verifies it’s an empty file, so definitely shouldn’t work that way.
I went ahead and recorded the one minute, and after only a few phrases it says I’m finished. But the Export file is only 10 MB. Turned off Cloud Sharing and it deleted the voice again. Well, that confirms that glitch. Fortunately I only lost one minute of recording.
Day Three: I’ve now recorded a third full fifteen minute session and … you guessed it, still stuck at 0%. Cloud Sharing was already turned off before I started this time—and the battery wasn’t full, so we’ll see if it starts to work this time or not.
Currently Generating at 0% and counting …
EDIT 1: +4 hours later, Notification: “Preparation of your Personal Voice couldn’t complete.” Opened it up and it still shows as Generating…0% 😕
EDIT 2: +6 days later, in the interim I’ve downloaded iOS 17 Beta 2 hoping it might include a workaround or fix. However, the Personal Voice screen still shows the finished recording has yet to begin generating and still reads as Preparing…0%.
Apple Support said they aren’t able to troubleshoot the feature as it’s a limited-functionality beta trial and they don’t want to break anything worse than it already is … they then suggested that I revert to iOS 16. 😓🫤🫠

I’ve been having issues with my images on IOS17 beta 2 whereby there’s some overlay of QR Code-like pink or white thing on most images in browsers and some third party apps.
Have you tried to screenshot those images? Is the overlay showing up in the screenshot too?

I have iPhone 13 mini and I updated it to ios 17 beta 2. My wallpaper is black and my standby is not showing.
The issue started when all of a sudden my system storage went up to 152 GB and I finally decided to reset my phone, I did reset my device, and the storage issue got resolved but then the wallpaper issue arrived. My wallpaper is completely black. I can create a new one neither in the settings nor from the lock screen. my standby is also not working at all. It shows the charging one and then the screen is again all black.
I’m tired of trying different things and now I think beta 2 is going to fix it, And I live in India so I don’t even know when is the next beta version going to arrive here.
Thanks for sharing. When you agree to install a beta you’re informed that you should only try it on a secondary device, a test device and not your main device, because there is a high probability of bugs.
