If you’re wearing a protection cover remove it from the case while charging, you can put it back after charging ends. An extra layer could make MagSafe charging less efficient and also cause the case to retain more heat.

3. Restart AirPods

If the case gets too hot, remove it from the charger, wait a couple of seconds until it cools down. Open the lid get your AirPods out. Bring them back into the case, close the lid and wait for 10 seconds. Bring the case back on the charger.

4. Reset AirPods

Finally, you can try to factory reset your AirPods in an attempt to clear any potential glitch that causes the case to overheat while charging.

With the lid open and the AirPods in the case press & hold the setup button for 15 seconds until the status light flashes ‘amber’ and then ‘white’.
