Are you plagued by the Apple Watch green tint issue? Is your AW screen showing a green or grey filter when accessing Control Center, Notification Center or the Passcode input screen? You’ve recently updated to watchOS 9.5?

Apple Watch Green Tint watchOS 9.5 Issue?

This problem has been reported by Lorenzo:

“Green or grey tint when browsing control center and notifications after 9.5 update! Is it just me?”

We couldn’t replicate this bug, but have found lots of similar complaints on Reddit:

“Green tint in notification + control center after 9.5 update.”

Fact: All users that report this issue confirm that’s been happening right after the watchOS 9.5 update! The Apple Watch 8 and older models seem more prone to display the green tint, while the AW Ultra is less affected, although it’s been hit too.

Important: This green tint is most likely caused by a bug, because the behavior is not replicated by all AW models!

For example, my Apple Watch 6 isn’t affected, while this Reddit user claims:

‘Noticed that on my Series 6, control center and Notification Center are both lighter/greenish gray.’

How To Fix Apple Watch Green Tint Issue

Apparently, Apple will have to fix this problem with an incremental update like watchOS 9.5.1! In the worst case scenario, affected users might have to wait though until the release of watchOS 9.6 which is currently beta tested.

In the meantime you can apply the following workarounds:

1. Turn On Sleep Mode

The black background should return in the Control Center and Notification Center if you enable Sleep Mode on your Apple Watch according to this Reddit user.

Fact: We might be dealing with a change that wasn’t properly implemented, but even in this case Apple will have to fix it in an upcoming software update.

2. watchOS 9.6 Beta 1

Apple Watch green tint bug isn’t fixed in watchOS 9.6 Public Beta 1. That’s expected though as the first beta was released only one day after the public release of watchOS 9.5, too soon for Apple to implement any fixes.

Have you managed to fix the green tint on Apple Watch after watchOS 9.5 update? What AW model are you owning? Do you have a better solution or other problems to report? Share your feedback in the comments!
