Messages search not working properly after iOS 17 update? Only results from recent iMessage conversations show up? Older chats aren’t returning any hits, rendering the search function obsolete? This is a widespread day-one iOS 17 bug!
Messages Search Not Working iOS 17 Issue?
This problem has been reported by many users including George:
“imessage search not working or at least not accurate! It seems to provide results only from very recent messages.”
We couldn’t replicate the bug but it appears to be a widespread and significant iOS 17 glitch. Here are more reports on Reddit (1 and 2) as well as Apple’s Discussion forums:
“I just updated to iOS 17 and my message search isn’t working. It doesn’t search old messages. And the new “filters” feature doesn’t appear to work either.”
How To Fix iOS 17 Message Search Not Working
Apple seems to be aware of this bug as confirmed by users on Reddit.
The Cupertino-based tech giant is allegedly working on a fix that will be released in an upcoming software update.
