Breaking: iPhone 7 and 7 Plus The Highest Radiating Phones Ever Created By Apple!

iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus RF Exposure

iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus RF Exposure.

Apple has just updated it’s official website with the SAR values measured for their most recent flaghsips, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. I was expecting these results starting with September 7 and was convinced that they will become available two days later, by the start of pre-orders. However, the information was updated only now, September 15, a few hours before the first iPhones are delivered to the earliest buyers!

Is this fair? Well, in my opinion, it isn’t because every buyer has the right to know how strong the RF exposure of the device is before deciding whether to order or not. This information is very important especially in the case of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, which can easily be labeled as the highest radiating iPhones ever created by Apple! Yes, the devices meet the FCC and the European SAR value limitations, but they are the highest ever recorded on iPhones and the differences are considerable! Check the SAR value comparison of all iPhone models, provided below and convince yourself!

Should I Worry About This?
There is no official link between cellphone radiation and cancer! Or at least there is none that hit the spotlights yet. However, considering that RF exposure is surly not beneficial and that studies on a long time frame aren’t conclusive yet, because smartphones aren’t that old and their effect can’t be measured during a lifetime, we can’t say for sure that iPhone radiation is harmful. Are you ready to risk your health? I’m not and you shouldn’t be either. I recommend you to check out my 13 tips for lowering radiation exposure while using an iPhone!

iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus SAR Values
SAR is the abbreviation of Specific Absorbtion Rate and is a numeric value that shows the rate at which the body absorbs RF energy from the emitting device. The Federal Communication Community sets the limit at 1.6 watts per kilogram averaged over 1 gram of tissue, while other countries average the radio frequency exposure over 10 grams of tissue and have a limit of 2.0 watts. No matter what iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus model we analyze, the conclusion is the same. The flagships are the highest radiating iPhones ever created! The SAR values are:
iPhone 7 (A1660, A1780 / A1779 / A1778)
SAR (Over 1gr)Body: 1.19 / 1.20 / 1.19 | Head: 1.20 / 1.19 / 1.19Limit: 1.6 W/kg
SAR (Over 10gr)Body : 1.39 / 1.38 / 1.34 | Head: 1.37 / 1.32 / 1.38Limit: 2.0 W/kg

iPhone 7 Plus (A1661, A1786 / A1785 / A1784)
SAR (Over 1gr)Body: 1.19 / 1.20 / 1.19 | Head: 1.20 / 1.19 / 1.19Limit: 1.6 W/kg
SAR (Over 10gr)Body : 1.39 / 1.38 / 1.34 | Head: 1.37 / 1.32 / 1.38Limit: 2.0 W/kg

Fact: The tests place iPhones at a distance of 5mm from the body. Imagine that SAR exposure is even higher if the smartphone is held in direct contact with your body.

iPhone 7 & 7 Plus Head To Head SAR Value Comparison With All iPhone Models
Check the table listed below and convince yourself that the 2016 Apple flagships have scored the highest values. The comparison includes all iPhone models ever released by the Cupertino-manufacturer!

Conclusion: Apple’s trend of launching high RF emitting phones has been under control after the peak registered by the iPhone 5. However, this spring’s iPhone SE gave a worrying sign as it came out with higher SAR values. To be honest the radiation peak scored by the iPhone 7 is a bad surprise. I checked and double checked the values on Apple’s website, but they’re confirmed!
