Last updated on November 4th, 2022 at 07:08 pm
Posted in News, TILs by Patricia on September 26, 2022iOS 15.7 still signed? Yes, this software version is still supported by Apple for all compatible iPhone models! This means that you can safely downgrade iOS 16.0 and iOS 16.0.2 to iOS 15.7, if day-one issues such as major touch screen problems, render your iPhone almost unusable!
iOS 15.7 NOT Signed
The main goal of this post is to track for how long iOS 15.7 remains signed!
If you’re looking to downgrade from iOS 16.0.2 and are not sure if iOS 15.7 is still signed, you can go ahead. The update is available.
Last checked: Friday, November 4, 7:00 PM ET – iOS 15.7 HAS BEEN UNSIGNED
How To Check If iOS 15.7 Is Still Signed?
One of the most popular websites tracking the signed status of iOS version is ipsw.me. However, because iOS 15.7 is a supplemental update to iOS 15.6.1, iPhone models compatible with iOS 16 aren’t tracked for iOS 15.7, but for the previous version.
If you check ipsw.me for any iPhone model that’s also iOS 16 compatible you won’t see any reference to iOS 15.7 and might think that the version is unsigned.
iOS 15.6.1 is listed as unsigned, and that’s a fact!
There are two ways to check if iOS 15.7 is still signed:
1. Apple Developer Account
If you own a paid Apple Developer account you will be able to see that the iOS 15.7 IPSW files are still available for download which means that the version is still signed.
2. iPhone Running iOS 15.6.1
Any iPhone that’s iOS 16 compatible (iPhone 8 or later) and still runs iOS 15.6.1 or earlier can show if iOS 15.7 is still signed.
How to: Go to Settings -> General -> Software Update. If you get the iOS 15.7 software update available, with iOS 16 available as an optional update it means that iOS 15.7 is still signed!
How To Downgrade iOS 16.0.2 to iOS 15.7
To revert iPhone to iOS 15.7 you need a Mac or Windows computer, a lightning to USB cable and the appropriate iOS 15.7 IPSW file.
Tip: A step-by-step video guide is available below and you can download the iPSW file for any compatible iPhone model from here.

When I pick the downloaded 15.7 file, nothing happens (e.g. no dialog,..).
Any hints?
16.02 is not working with the carPlay (a major problem).
For what iPhone model are you trying to download the file? Do it using a computer. I just checked for the iPhone 13 Pro and it works.
i tried for iphone 13 and i am getting Error as it is unsigned.
It’s still signed. Have you downloaded the proper IPSW file? Files are different for iPhone 13, 13 Pro, 13 mini and 13 Max.
For Iphone 13 getting Error The iPhone “iPhone” could not be restored because the firmware file is not compatible.
Kindly help
Have you downloaded the proper iOS 15.7 IPSW file that matches your iPhone model? Version is still signed. We’ve got confirmations this evening of successful downgrades.

Sucessfully downgraded my iPhone XS to 15.7 today, as 16.0.3 sadly didn’t rectify the touchscreen issues (I’m not at all surprised). Software version 15.7 is still signed. Let’s see what 16.1 can do about this issue once it is released.
Thanks for confirming Roland. You can try iOS 16.1 Beta 5 if you want or wait for the public release, towards the end of the month.
hey i have iphone 11 and i want to downgrade as well, if possible can you help me with it?

Yes, downgrade is still possible. The steps are described here:
https://www.iphonetricks.org/downgrade-ios-16-0-3-to-15-7-without-data-loss/
It turned out to be the screen itself. Changed it, problem solved.
Thanks for the follow up. Glad that you managed to fix it. How much did the replacement cost?
I had the service dealer replace it for free within warranty as I had only bought it a month ago :)
Great! Enjoy your new screen.
