Apple Fitness+ On Mac: Drawback

Unfortunately, Fitness+ is still not natively supported by macOS. There’s no Fitness Plus app available in the Mac App Store. But thanks to the new macOS Monterey AirPlay to Mac feature, you can use this workaround to stream Apple Fitness+ workouts on Mac!
Apple Fitness+ on Mac no workout metrics

AirPlaying Fitness+ workouts from your iPhone or iPad to macOS 12 comes with a limitation: your heart rate, burned calories and other on-screen workout metrics aren’t shown on the MacBook or iMac display. However, they’re available on your Apple Watch and you can easily get a glance by raising your wrist.

How To Stream Apple Fitness+ On Mac

  • Open the Fitness app on your iPhone or iPad.
  • Tap the Fitness+ tab, in the bottom menu.
  • Pick a workout and start it.
  • Use the AirPlay option, to wirelessly stream the video and audio content to your Mac.
  • Select your MacBook, or whichever Mac computer you’re owning, from the AirPlay list. Enjoy the workout!

AirPlay To Mac Requirements

macOS Monterey allows you to airplay content from iPhone, iPad and other Apple devices to a Mac. However, not all macOS 12 compatible computers are getting this new AirPlay feature . Below you can find a list with the AirPlay compatible Macs:

  • Mac Pro (2019)
  • Mac mini (2020 and later)
  • iMac Pro (2017)
  • iMac (2019 and later)
  • MacBook Air (2018 and later)
  • MacBook Pro (2018 and later)

Important: macOS Monterey is currently in its early beta testing stages. Airplaying Apple Fitness+ workouts to Mac aren’t perfect at the moment, but I’m sure that this will be a reliable feature by the macOS 12 public release version. macOS Monterey should be released this fall!
