iOS 17.0.2 Battery Drain Issue, Other Problems? [Updating]

Apple has released iOS 17.0.2 build number 21A351 for the iPhone XS and later, after build number 21A350 was only available on the new iPhone 15 and 15 Pro Series. According to the release notes, it brings bug fixes and security patches!

As usual with new iOS generations, battery life tends to be a general issue! The new OS is not fully fine tuned and thus not too battery friendly.

iOS 17 makes no difference and we’ve seen lots of reports of excessive battery drain across all the range of compatible iPhone models.

iOS 17.0.2 Issues

Here we’re tracking the most common bugs and problems reported by users for this version

• 1. Wallpaper disappears from Lock Screen when connecting iPhone to charger. Reported by Wes.
  Workaround: Lock and wake device back up | Unplug and reconnect charger. | Restart device. More info here.
• 2. iMessage search not working properly. Results only from recent messages. Reported by George555.
  Fact: Apple acknowledged this bug and promised a fixed in an upcoming software update. More details here.
• 3. Wi-Fi and Cellular signal missing from Home Screen. This is a day-one iOS 17 bug yet to be fixed.
  Temporary fix: Reboot iPhone.
• 4. iMessage Activation issue still present amongst some early iOS 17 adopters. More details here.
• 5. No sound or vibrations for notifications when iPhone screen is off and facing up for this Reddit user.

iOS 17.0.2 Bugs Fixed

Identical to build 21A350 a single fix is listed in the update log:

• 1. Data transfer from another iPhone not working during setup has been addressed and users should be able to import data from an older iPhone without any problems!

iOS 17.0.2 Download

As usual, this update is available over-the-air and / or wired (with the help of a computer and Finder- on Mac / iTunes – on Windows:

• 1. Open Settings -> General -> Software Update on an iPhone XS or later.
• 2. iOS 17.0.2 should show up on the Software Update screen.
• 3. Tap Update Now!
• 4. Agree with ToS, input Passcode and be patient until the new software is requested, downloaded, prepared, verified and installed on your device!
